VFX favorites: Clash of the Titans (1981)

The final credited film featuring effects by Ray Harryhausen, Clash of the Titans leaves a lasting impression as one of the few movies of its era to focus on Greek mythology and handle it in an old school way. This wouldn't have been out of place at all in the '60s, but that doesn't mean the effects feel behind the times. This is just a lovely movie to look at and the stop motion is wonderful, as could be expected. The variety of creatures and styles implemented here keep it from getting redundant, and it's obvious that age didn't slow Harryhausen down or hamper his abilities. It's a corny B-movie in a lot of ways, but it's clearly made with a lot of passion and is tons of fun, largely thanks to the effects.
