VFX favorites: The Bride Of Frankenstein (1935)
Although either film could be argued as superior between this and the original, one thing is for sure: the effects in this movie are far more incredible and some of the most impressive of its time. Jack Pierce, one of the earliest legends of makeup and creature design (Lon Chaney, Sr. being the first I would consider a "legend"), and John Fulton - one of the unsung heroes of special effects trickery - are both at the top of their game here. While I would hesitate to consider the makeup alone good enough to be highlighted on here, it's really the Fulton effects during the Dr. Pretorious demonstration scene that has continued to impress me all these years. Pure genius.
