Top 10 Jared Harris performances

(EDIT: July 7, 2019)
Please keep in mind this list was written 3 years ago, so Harris' many wonderful performances since that time will be absent from this post. I intend on making a follow-up, considering just how much he's done in the past few years that I feel deserves placement on this countdown, but apart from this opening statement the rest of the post will remain untouched. Consider it a relic, already outdated but still present to show how much time has affected the subject matter. Now onto the actual post.

Easily one of the most underappreciated actors currently working, Harris has shown an impressive range, fully capable of leaving a huge impact even in the smallest of roles - which have made up a fairly substantial portion of his career thus far. With powerful, emotional performances as well as comedic and transformative ones under his belt, there are few actors who can draw you in quite like him. Several people I know have been thrown off by his peculiar screen presence in films he's not meant to be likable in, but that's part of what makes him so great. He isn't the leading man who only takes on simple roles in pop movies, but rather a very dynamic character actor who may or may not become thoroughly unlikable, depending on the character he portrays. Several of the performances on this list are fairly small, but that doesn't keep them from being strong work.

So here they are, my 10 favorite performances by Jared Harris:

My 5 favorite things about... A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master

After a small break from this series (I don't like watching these movies too close together, because they all become a mush that way) I have come back with the 4th entry; yet another in the series that I actually enjoy really well. Possibly slightly better in my eyes than the previous film, but overall less creepy and cool-looking. Still, I've enjoyed every movie in the franchise up to this point, so here's the poster and a brief look at the plot of Elm Street 4.

So Bad They're Good - Top 50 Movies: Part V (#10 - 1)

Before I conclude this countdown, I want to remind my readers that these aren't all necessarily "bad movies". But they are presented as garbage, are poorly executed or just work really well as parodies of movies that really are bad, and I feel that makes them eligible. Alright, now here's the top 10.

Son of Saul - JEFF REVIEWS MOVIES!!! video review

I haven't posted any content on here for a few days, and part of that is because I've been trying to rethink the ways I can post new reviews. So I tried out a short review, even though it kind of flies off the rails around halfway through...either way, I hope you check it out, it's not even 5 minutes long.

Oh, and this review is of the Hungarian drama Son of Saul: Here is the review! Click here! That's right...do it. Do it do it do it do it.

2016 in film (Part VI)

This has been a really strong year so far, I'm just hoping I can continue to mainly cherry pick the gems and try to avoid some of this other crap...

My 5 favorite things about... A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

I just looked at the second Elm Street movie, Freddy's Revenge, and was relatively surprised by how much I liked it the second time around. So what do I think of this, the third in the series? Well, it's often considered one of the best of the series, but I think I actually liked the first two better. You can almost place this blame solely on Patricia Arquette, who just might give the worst performance in the entire series. Still, there are a lot of original ideas here, and I'll be going into some of the things I really liked about it here in a sec. But first, look at this sweet-ass poster.

My 5 favorite things about... A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge

A Nightmare On Elm Street is one of the most well-known, classic horror movies of the '80s, and even of all time. Freddy Krueger has gone on to be considered one of the scariest and most iconic villains ever, and it's largely due to his presence in the first film of the series. His impact here led to a half-dozen sequels, a crossover with Jason Voorhees, a reboot, and yet another rumored reboot still in the works -- and this isn't even including the countless other appearances and parodies of this character that have been in film and TV over the past 30 years.

So, apart from the obvious success of the first one that led us down this path, what else is there this film series has to offer? Let's take a look, shall we?

First Oscar Predictions: 2016 - 2017

I love Oscar season. I find all the politics behind everything hilarious, and the movies that will do well are almost always insanely easy to guess. This isn't always the case, but to try and see how predictable they all are, I'm gonna be making this group of predictions and leaving them untouched and then compare them with my more official predictions later on, just to see how much has changed in like 4-5 months. So, here is my first batch of guesses. And crap, why not throw in predicted winners while we're at it? They'll be the ones on the top. In bold. With stars. And "WINNER WINNER!" written next to them. Eh, maybe not that last part...

Oh yeah, and I just wanted to mention this real quickly, because I don't remember if I already typed it and I'm too lazy to read through to see if I already mentioned it (I don't proofread my own writing, like, ever), but I haven't seen any of these movies yet, apart from a couple of the animated ones (Zootopia and Kubo), so I am shooting blind here. Alright, here are the predictions.

5 Important Notes For Musical Filmmakers

Having just watched Into The Woods and spending about an hour playing Sweet Transvestite from The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack over and over again, it's safe to say musicals have been on my mind for a few hours. I found myself wondering why it is that I don't like most musicals I watch. I love movies, I love music, and I enjoy watching dancing and choreography as much as any normal person. So why is it that most musicals just really bug me instead of leave me wanting to sing along, or dance around or whatever? Well, here are the 5 main things I find myself seeing as the most important aspects of any good musical, and more often than not, you'll find at least 1 or 2 of these are not present in these movies. I might be wrong, but I've spent over 5 whole minutes thinking these things up, so I'm probably right. Like, super right.

1. The songs have to be catchy or memorable sounding (even just a few of them)

Project Pokemon: The Gathering - Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard!

And here are the next few in the set. Also devised by Patrick and Jon. Again, this is just the original design, and can be changed. Very easily, I might add. So here are the next three, everyone's favorite flaming salamanders!
